Seriously, is this about a new series, or keeping us up to date on NASA and scifi movie news? I understand how they can affect our outlook for the future, and that's cool to include such things. But since the launch there has not even been one added "official" image than the first three?! (unless they're elsewhere than the official images section) Yes we know... the production team cannot share such things. But you haven't shared the slightest thing! Is there not some early preproduction work? Sketches?! Even on a napkin? We would like to see this. Why is nothing being shown? Why is the general answer of are they, or aren't they on a run away moon just not being responded to? That's the basis of the original series! If this is a web site for the series, talk to us about the series. I mourn the passing of Sally Ride and Ray Bradbury, but Jeebus Kriest!... you created this to be about your new show. Tell us about the show!!!!
Sadly all I can take from the silence is that there is no moon, and this will be on a spaceship... which is the what most speculation seems to say. Why do they say it? Because you are not saying anything. Even Ron Moore admitted to us in the beginning that there would be a Battlestar named Galactica, and "Yes Virginia, there will be Cylons!" You can't even tell us if there is a traveling moon as their "ship" through the stars. What is this?!
Deep breath. Rant subsided. Now please tell me about the Mars Rover and what it does. And how did you like the new Total Recall movie?

I've posted many times about the importance of keeping Space:1999 DNA in Space 2099. I won't bore everyone with another. For the newbies who may not know, Jace Hall is a featured guest at the Space:1999 convention in Burbank next month. Don't expect any moon-shattering news until then.
We can only hope that Jace blows the convention open with his appearance. I still fear a spaceship-centric premise but consider this: Jace created this website to allow fans a forum to provide feedback to HD Films. I don't think Ron Moore or JJ Abrams solicited this kind of feedback during pre-production of Galactica or Trek, respectively.
Abrams said last year that he couldn't make a Trek movie that would satisfy readers of Nacelles Monthly. Vocal as most of us graybeards have been about the designs of Eagles, I don't think *most* of us expect panel-by-panel reconstructions of the original sets and FX models. However, I have to believe the fact that Jace has solicited the feedback of fans means that he isn't going to produce a series that is so different in look and concept that we don't recognize our show.
We will know very quickly from the reaction of the conventioneers if Space 2099 is more Trek than 1999...

08-17-2012 01:43 AMCHILL OUT.
Haven't you folks ever heard of "development hell?" The wheels turn mighty slowly in Hollywood. One example: the massively-popular series "Mad Men" sat idle for seven YEARS between inception and filming. Even the "A-list" intellectual properties (Superman, Spider~Man) have to wait, go through fits and starts, change directors, change scripts, change actors (Remember the dudes who *almost* played Aragorn? Wolverine?)
This is an elaborate dance, and you can't rush the music (or shoot the piano player.)

Awesome, awesome frakkin' rant Starbuckin.
I'm a "senior" member, which is some bizarre way of making us feel special and encouraging us to post more. I figured out that the more you post, the higher you go, like a Scientology pyramid. Post 50 comments and you get to be a Member! Post 100 and you're a Senior!
I waited three months before I started asking these questions and have gotten back pablum.
Mr. Hall is coming to the con. Let's hope he can answer your VERY legitimate questions and assuage our very legitimate concerns.
I've stopped coming to this website. We've said all we're going to say. There's nothing new we can add, really. And I can get my space news from the BBC or CNN.

08-23-2012 06:34 PMYes, and Mad Men is superb show. But I don't think they announced the show 7 years in advance and then launched a fan site around the show itself in the immediate wake of that announcement. Besides, it's not exactly an apples to apples comparison as Space:1999 is a show with an established fan base... Mad Men was not at its inception. People get the announcement that the show will be rebooted and then a site appears which seems to focus on all sort of other nerdly trivia except the show itself. This site should be about building momentum and anticipation but instead it's atrophying. I visit it only on occasion now and when I do its the same things people were talking about 4 months ago.

When this site first appeared I checked it daily and even posted some thoughts. Eventually, I saw that nothing new was coming from Mr. Hall or whomever else is in on developing this show. Now I rarely check it because as Christopher Piri says, we've said all we're going to say. Now it's time for some feedback from Mr. Hall. Until then, adios.

I started a similar thread...complaint?...a few weeks back. I feel the same as the general rant. I went from checking weekly to whenever I see the link in the drop down favorites menu. Like I said before. If I want up to date NASA news, I'll go there. SciFi movies...I'll check the sites...I'm here for 2099 stuff and news. If there is no news coming, then just say so. Even if it's a "...nothing new this week folks..." kinda post. We understand.

Hey thanks for the post and for all of your comments!
Believe us, we'd love to discuss and open up regarding our plans for Space 2099 to the public but the production is not at a stage yet where that is feasible. Yes we created the site to discuss the show, but at this stage, we're still using it to allow more fan discussion and to give fans of Space 1999 an OFFICIAL database for everything Space 1999, including original images from the series that we're putting up in our gallery as we speak.
Yes this has been the status quo since roughly the beginning, but again it beats what we viewed was the alternative in not creating a web site until the show hit the air, something that obviously would have prevented many of the valuable conversations that have taken place over the last few months.
Please know that our silence indicates we still can't discuss the series in detail, and does not infer an answer one way or another.
Thank you again for being an integral part of our site!

Hey it is a great idea to hear what the Space 1999 fans actually would like to see and what works. Glean from this as you can and it will help make the show better for all.
