It's great that this site and forum exists and it's been not only fun but educational to come here and read about the possibilities, not only of the show, but for our own future. But come on already. Isn't it time for some sort of movement on the production of the show itself? Some kind of news or update on how the development is progressing? I mean, it's the trillion ton asteroid in the room that everybody's ignoring. Throw us a frikkin bone here!

Hey guys thanks for the post! We understand your desire for more info. but here's the best update we can give for now.

We've created this site in an effort to make the production as inclusive as possible for fans, from announcement to show airing, which has allowed us the benefit of taking EVERYTHING fans have said under advisement.

In comparison, most productions wouldn't begin communicating with fans until the show was near launch. We decided to do it from the OFFICIAL announcement, which has allowed for more fan intervention, but still doesn't allow us the ability to be fully transparent in regards to specific details of the production.

We CAN say that the first tiny glimpse into some Space 2099 specifics will transpire at Alpha Con this September.
Until then our hope is to continue engaging with the fan community, in regards to how current events can fuse with the original Space 1999 storyline, to help create the best re-imagining possible.

Thank you to everyone who continues to be an engaged member and participant of the site, you are HELPING us create what we are confident will be a very exciting series that not only does the original justice, but inspires a whole new sci-fi fan base!

Personally, I'd rather patiently wait one more year for Jace & co. to get it right ... if it takes time to produce good scripts and develop a good backstory, so be it. And the brainstorming in this forum has been lots of fun, and hopefully helpful to the Space:2099 producers as well.

I actually think you have put out too much material already, BTW! I am not really a big fan of the new Eagle and the new spacesuits, so I hope there is no ironclad commitment from your side to include them in the show.

I suppose that most of us want to know if there is any progress in finding a network for the series

Jace, please go back to the drawing board on the visuals...I assume what we've seen so far does not represent what will be on screen. Why don't you guys contract Steve Burg (Prometheus) or John Eaves (Star Trek) to do the design on this? I think either of those guys would be fantastic designers on this.

Actually, I would hire Martin Bower and Brian Johnson as spacecraft design consultants instead! The Eagles and other spacecraft of the original series had a unique "look" that has aged well.

I'd go for that...but I like Burg and Eave's work too.

Jace & Co. do not have to give a damn about the relatively few people out there that not only remember the show, but like it enough to participate in what has been a virtual town hall meeting for input and idea-bouncing. But they do. The new series will have everything we want and need in Space, they wouldn't have created this site to ignore us.

    Mark my words:

    When the show airs...

We will be (mostly) unanimous in our agreement that they got it right. The visuals, the pacing, the effects, the realism, the plausibility, the characters, the tone, everything. They have the luxury of time and hindsight and will hit their marks and get it right.
