It's possible. Should this be a plot thread in the new series?

03-04-2012 10:42 AMI guess the Moon could be transformed into a Titan like world [ Titan (moon) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia ] by smashing huge comets into it. But the atmosphere would escape into space unless the surface temperature never rises above -150 degrees centigrade / 120 degrees Kelvin or so. And it would clearly be an enormous undertaking. Terraforming Mars would take centuries.
Bottom line: please don't do it... It wasn't part of the original series except for THE LAST SUNSET, which was among the original series' four or five most ridiculous episodes (Season 2 excluded).

I'm not talking nuetronium but some kind of very high density material. Failing that, you could have a lot of domed 'cities'.

You could have deep core devices that once turned on have a reaction on the moons core and have a effect that might cause some terraforming possible. Maybe you can put a slight atmosphere on the moon to help block out some harmful rays, and have large domes on the moons surface as part of the colony there for food production for the space resources. Anything is possible if your willling to dream it out.

Well lets assume for sake of this thread that is 2099 they have built many different complexex on the moon and have deep drilled into the moons crust to determine mineral makeup and content. Lets also assume that in that process they developed technology that would allow them to alter or have some effect on that core. Maybe through harmonics they can cause a chain reaction of sorts and cause a heat up of the core. Maybe too that if they set up enough of these facilities they create power and an by product is they have a effect on the moon's core that basically increases the moons gravity and maybe also the process pumps gasses into the moon's atmosphere as well too thus speaking from a Traveller RPG background changes over time the Moon's atmosphere from a taunt to a thin atmospher. It is what I did in my Traveller based campaign. Each of these stations and I had (30) of them on planet, also are used to generate the power (Geo-Thermal) for the Faze Power Shield generators that basically ended up fazing the moon into Hyperspace and etc.
