Since the two promotional posters have been addressed, it's time to look at this logo.

The appearance of the logo is tattered. There are holes and tears in the letters. Does this indicate a disaster of some sort? Does it indicate struggle and conflict? If everything in the two posters is intentional, then there is likely the same degree of intention in this logo. Of course, someone has already mentioned the presence of Moonbase Alpha in the first letter.

So what are your guesses about some of the meaning behind the logo's lettering and appearance?

Here is food for further thought. Has there been any thought given towards a slightly different name for the series? How about Space 2050? 2099 seems like such a long way off in the distance. Do we have to be absolutely wed to the 99 of Space 1999 or can we look at a change here? And Space 2050 sounds more catchy.

I just wanted to throw this idea out there. Every bit if marketability helps, including the way the name sounds to others. Space 2099 sounds a bit cumbersome to my ears. Space Twenty Ninety Nine. Four syllables. Space 2050? Three syllables. Easier to remember. More brevity. Brevity is the soul of wit?

Nope gotta have a 99 in there somehow.

Gritty. Edgy. Such is the style of contemporary competitive branding for television and the hoped-for young audience.

Microgramma Bold Extended is a sans-serif typeface that's held a certain future-tech appeal for around forty-five years, yet has not taken on a "dated" look like some other fonts from that time. The original show used it in a few places.

Assuming things are taking place on a moonbase, maybe this reflects how the sleek future-tech environment becomes worn, dirty and less immaculate as the series progresses and the situation deteriorates with time.

Have to say I prefer the original logo. This one needs work...

Direct, Clean, I like this logo and I also like the name SPACE: 2099.

I want to echo in my agreement that the title should contain "99", or else the innate link to the original series is broken. Sure it seems like a long ways off, but when trapped on a moonbase with limited resources, it takes a while to get things rolling!

I think the tattered look has been done to death now. I think the logo should look more like the original but maybe with a twist.

This is really an awesome wallpaper of space 2099. This is a great series of space wars and 2099 seems like such a long way off in the distance. I just save this wallpaper and set as my background. Thank you.
